Industrial Pipe Shelf

Today I thought I'd make time to do a project I've been wanting to tackle for a while.  It turned out to be easy - super duper easy.







It's a shelf made from simple galvanized sprinkler piping.  Very industrial in style.

 It's so easy.  This is how you do it:
1.  Drive to Home Depot
2.  Show the plumbing guy the Pinterest picture of the shelf you want to make. 
3.  Let him throw the pieces in your basket.
4.  Go home and assemble.

For this shelf, I basically got 4 flanges, 2 elbows, 2 T's, and then 6 lengths of 3 1/2" lengths and one 2' length of oil rubbed 3/4" galvanized pipe.

For future shelves, I wouldn't get the oil rubbed piping.  I think I would just get the galvanized and spray it black.  It's a bit greasy.  Not great for hanging nice clean linens on :)

For the top piece I used an old joist that we pulled out of our house.  It's the perfect width and thickness of reclaimed wood.
 

This shelf cost me $40 to make.  If I had used 1/2" piping it would have been a bit less.

What a fun accent for a bathroom, or a kitchen, or any room really.
I think I'll make a few more!
