Side-of-the-road find

Right before Christmas, Mark came home from work with this piece in his truck.  I know it looks gorgeous now, but it didn't then.  For some reason, I still have a hard time envisioning what the finished product will look like.

He brought it inside, and it didn't take very long to transform it.  I kept the original pulls, and it looks fantastic.  I asked if we could keep it, but it just doesn't fit in the spot I'd like it to go.  So sad!

The thing I like most about it is the layout of the piece.  There's two little drawers up top, then one big long drawer, and three cupboards.  So much storage, in such a compact piece.  So fun!

Today's project is a chair we picked up from an auction in Jarvis.  I've been feeling a little discouraged with auctions lately - they take up so much of my time, and often I come home with nothing.  But I think I need to not give up, because often I score some pretty fabulous finds.  They are just so much more fun to attend with someone, but one of us needs to stay home with the girls.  Sometimes a friend will come with me, which makes it so much more fun.  There's an auction tonight in Dundas, so I may be heading out that way.  Perhaps I'll bring with my new book, "Inspired You" by Miss Mustard Seed!

  2. What a gorgeous piece! I recently painted a sideboard that was similar in style in almost the same colour.

I sent you links to the Miss Mustard Seed blog in my last email, but I should have known you had heard of her! Your style is very similar and you have a very good eye.
